Template codes...

The template codes are way messed up when you d/l the template. Half of all my build that I d/led from here have invaled template codes... Wtf is going on? Most of those builds have de attributes right (unlike to some that I've seen), but they're still fucked... — eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 21:38, 7 December 2007 (CET)

Also, I know too that the Template codes are messed up. But i don't understand the whole save thing next to them. You click it, save it, go get, copy it, paste it, print it? Too much Work. Why not just have a button that automaticaly prints it. It would be much more convinient. And correct me if i'm wrong. I don't understand the thing.--FireTocksig2FireTock 15:19, 8 December 2007 (CET)

Why would you want to print it? I save them and add in my builds folder in the GW folder. User Godliest Icon ritualist GΩdlﺄεﻯt -_- 16:16, 8 December 2007 (CET)

If you're running windows, just save them in the C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Templates\Skills folder. Well, that's the point: Half of those templates are fucked and have messed up codes. Then you need to go back to the website, look up that build you saved and copy the attributes and skills manually. Why bother d/ling them if half of them have messed up templates anyway? — eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 11:22, 9 December 2007 (CET)
Some examples would help us fix them, no? --Edru viransu//QQ about me/sysop 15:24, 9 December 2007 (CET)

I just copy and paste them from the box. I haven't had a problem with them doing that. Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V them into the template code window on GW. Bluemilkman/Talk To Me 03:52, 11 December 2007 (CET)

Some Problems

Overall, I dont really like all the pictures and overall look, but thats just me. Other than that, here are some real problems. There is an orange line running through the PvE featured builds section that is unneccessary and is in the wrong position if it should be there at all. Also, the word all in the PvE featured builds section is cut off. The Builds by Profession profession links are down much further than Miscellaneous and Builds by Campaign lists. Also, why is there a gray line underneath Guides in Miscellaneous? A picture of what I see is found at Image:ViYmainpage.jpg --Holiday viy sigVictoryisSantas 23:11, 12 December 2007 (CET)

I dont.--Holiday viy sigVictoryisSantas 23:14, 12 December 2007 (CET)

I have some problems too. It's only with this site, and since the update of appearance it takes forever for this site to load and msot of the time i cant even get to the page. And it's only with PvX wiki, every other site is fine.--FireTocksig2FireTock 00:01, 13 December 2007 (CET)

The grey line underneath Guides is on purpose, since it's separating guides from builds. However not that much needed anymore since the section title is no longer 'Miscellaneous Builds'. The other bugs I can't reproduce here (Firefox 2.0.0.11 on Ubuntu), except for the loading time. The overall look & feel seems too busy to me too, will try to come up with some improvements when I find the time (probably over Christmas). – HHHIPPO ‹sysop› 00:11, 13 December 2007 (CET)

Alos, i think this site is becoming too much like gw.--FireTocksig2FireTock 00:32, 13 December 2007 (CET)

Also, underneath Miscellaneous, why is it Trial builds, build stubs, instead of different bullets? And is it just my internet (msn) that makes the word all get cut off in the PvE featured builds, and the picture for it is jutting out the side? Also the orange line needs realigned.--Holiday viy sigVictoryisSantas 00:38, 13 December 2007 (CET)

This is the real problem - the attitude. Non of you guys want to change anything at all. First I had to fight to get pvxcode implemented as it was "useless" to so many people, now new Main page is the end of the world. Again - if there is something you don't like go to edit copy, import current version from main page, and start implementing your ideas. Some people do like it - some don't - it will not get reverted, but it can be changed. It is an idea - and YOU can make that change. And for sure nothing will get reverted becouse it has a problem with IE. If there is a problem ~ I will fix it. And even if you don't notice it - trust me I work on this site every single day. gcardinal 01:57, 13 December 2007 (CET)

Then go to edit copy and implement your ideas. It wont change it self. gcardinal 02:03, 13 December 2007 (CET)

Here are some personal suggestions, some might be a problem just for my internet, but I dont use IE:

  • Scoot the orange line over to the left slightly so it seperates the PvE featured builds and PvP featured builds without interfering with the PvE pictures and lines.
Fixed gcardinal 02:45, 13 December 2007 (CET)
  • Raise up the builds by profession list, as it is lower than the others.
See "bold the builds" gcardinal 02:45, 13 December 2007 (CET)
  • Under miscellaneous, make trial builds and stub builds seperate bullets.
This will make list to long, changes maybe will be made here. gcardinal 02:45, 13 December 2007 (CET)
  • Remove the pictures under the categories great, good, other, testing, and all. A good change would be to remove the pictures, and change the text color of the words to show what level of greatness they are. Example: other would be yellow, good would be green, and great would be blue.
No. I like pictures, if you dont go to edit copy and make a better suggestion. gcardinal 02:45, 13 December 2007 (CET)
  • Remove the gray line underneath Guides. gcardinal 02:45, 13 December 2007 (CET)
Gray line there for a reason, check old version.
If its miscellaneous, why would guides and builds be seperated if they're both miscellaneous things? Makes the spacing seem weird.--Holiday viy sigVictoryisSantas 02:50, 13 December 2007 (CET)
  • Bold the Builds By Profession list. gcardinal 02:45, 13 December 2007 (CET)
Will be replaced by another better styled list.

Please try and answer and respond to each of these suggestions seperately, instead of only addressing a few and leaving the rest. What I see can be found here, which shows why I suggest these. Thanks.--Holiday viy sigVictoryisSantas 02:34, 13 December 2007 (CET)

Yes, all we know about it is that right now it's attempting to substitute hex/html/php values for the symbols involved. (Likely not hex values, due to the fact that they, you know, don't follow the hexadecimal format with their things that aren't 0-9 and A-F, but they're all interrelated anyway.) -- Armond WarbladeArmond sig image{{sysop}} 04:48, 26 December 2007 (EST)

Defiant was Xinrae is total shit tbh. In PvE you'd be better suited using that extra slot to kill them before their skill recharges anyway, and in PvP it's like Diversion except it's a much shorter disable, it's reactive instead of proactive (and therefore doesn't get better as you do but instead gets better as your opponents get worse) and sharing spells with allies (which doesn't happen outside of gimmicky shit), it's an item spell so it removes your weapon bonuses, and it's elite. --71.229.204.25 03:29, 8 January 2008 (EST)

Wiki-technical question about removing the title line

Most Mediawiki based wikis have one thing in common: the fixed title of the page in the upper left corner, followed by a <hr> on every page, even the front page. GuildWiki has it. The Official GW wiki has it. But PvXwiki does not have it (on the front page). I've been searching through massive amounts of mediawiki documentation, but I have been unable to figure out how that was done, so... can someone enlighten me? --Bishop 04:22, 9 January 2008 (EST)

Thought that looked different. Well, gcardinal probably hax'd it in with this version of the main page when he made it, so I'll tell you this: Very painfully. Don't go trying to replicate it blindly, there was some code to disable the cache in there when we did that whole overhaul. Wiki was slow for several days before we fixed it and it caught up. Even then, it was pretty slow until we updated the servers a week later. -- Armond WarbladeArmond sig image{{sysop}} 04:38, 9 January 2008 (EST)

Same thing happened to me. Went away for 5 days, came back, build disappeared. Probably got WELL'ed and deleted. Personally, I think this WELLing is total shit. Trashing -> deleting is the only way a build should be deleted, excluding a dupe, total inferiority to other build, etc. But having it where 2 people (person who puts WELL tag and admin who deletes it) dont like a build so it gets deleted is just bullshit. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 17:27, 12 January 2008 (EST)
Speaking for myself at least (and to be perfectly honest, with a few exceptions, I'm the only one who really WELLs builds), I do my utmost to only delete builds in the most obvious cases. When there's any question, I leave it for the voters to decide. And, I always check both the votes and the talk page before deleting. Erm, no. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 18:03, 12 January 2008 (EST)
You can ask an admin to restore it so you can put it in your user space or w/e. PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 18:12, 12 January 2008 (EST)

So I herd Special:Logs was ftw. And I also herd it records all deletions, moves, etc. and who deleted/moved it, and the reasons for the deletion/move. So here is the answer to your original question. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 18:27, 12 January 2008 (EST)

so, i have no idea what you're saying... so, what?--FireFire Tock SigPic 2Tock 01:00, 13 January 2008 (EST)

Lol. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 08:13, 13 January 2008 (EST)
What I was saying is that there's no reason you should be posting on the main page talk "who deleted my build" because you can find a record of all deletions ever in the logs. And if you want to know why it was deleted, you should post on the talk page of the person who deleted it; in this case, Armond. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 11:58, 13 January 2008 (EST)

Btw, can someone please upload these following Skills?.. Banner of the Unseen, Form up and Advance, and Signet of the Unseen. Ty.--FireFire Tock SigPic 2Tock 12:00, 13 January 2008 (EST)

I'm using them for my latest build, Build:Mo/P Saul's Sucessor--FireFire Tock SigPic 2Tock 12:01, 13 January 2008 (EST)

Wait a minute, i might be left out, but do you guys use the Edit button to talk or the + symbol. 'cause i use the + symbol.--FireFire Tock SigPic 2Tock 12:07, 13 January 2008 (EST)

The + is intended for adding new sections to a talk page. I use the little section edit buttons for editing specific sections. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 12:23, 13 January 2008 (EST)
Oh, didn't know that. Why didn't anyone tell me? It's all Nova's fault.--FireFire Tock SigPic 2Tock 13:14, 13 January 2008 (EST)

Respon/Load time of PvX

In the last 10/15 mins i've noticed that PvX is taking a long time to respon and load web pages (any other website works normaly whcihc makes me think it's something on PvXs end). It's currently taking about a minuet to load a page up.PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 14:17, 13 January 2008 (EST)

Noticed that too, however, its seems to be back to normal for me right now. Shogunshen Sig Shen(contribs) 14:18, 13 January 2008 (EST)
It's poing on and off for me-sometimes it will be ok others not so much (even the same page). PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 14:19, 13 January 2008 (EST)
Give it some minutes. I did some changes to configuration files which trigger a reset of the cache. – HHHIPPO ‹sysop› 14:23, 13 January 2008 (EST)

Bm and My rating page have both been implemented (mentioned on Admin-notice board)PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 16:03, 13 January 2008 (EST)

Build master notice board?

Being as BMs have been introduced-would it not make sense to ahve a Bm notice board as well as an admin noticeboard?, this way things realted to votes can go on the B board and all the other problems onto the Admin noticeboard. Thoughts? PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 16:18, 13 January 2008 (EST)

There is a build specific part of the admin noticeboard, so the BMs should look at that. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 16:21, 13 January 2008 (EST)
BMs should just go to the Admin Noticeboard build section. Defiant Elements Sig Test 2 *Defiant Elements* +talk 16:23, 13 January 2008 (EST)
Yes but i'm thinking if you look here Hippo says Admins have lsot the right to remove/rollback votes, so really the need for votes removal/restoral on the admin noticeboard is pointless, and just takes up space on the ADMIN noticeboard. Where as if it was on BM noticeboard that would be all there is on there (problems related to builds)PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 16:24, 13 January 2008 (EST)
Erm... I can still rollback votes... just did actually. Besides... it's not the Sysop Noticeboard or the Bureaucrat noticeboard. If both Sysops and Bureaucrats are "administrators," then it stands to reason that BMs (the administrators of the build section) should have their place on the noticeboard as well. Defiant Elements Sig Test 2 *Defiant Elements* +talk 16:28, 13 January 2008 (EST)
Guess Hippo dropped that then (left it so admins still had that right i mean)-but still it would mean the admin notice board isn't cluttered by problems with votes is all i'm thinking. PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 16:30, 13 January 2008 (EST)
It's also creates a second page that users aren't used to posting on (or finding for that matter). Defiant Elements Sig Test 2 *Defiant Elements* +talk 16:31, 13 January 2008 (EST)
I would have thought it would have a similar layout to the admin noticeboard (you could perhaps have it seperated into PvE/PvP (or even into sub categories if you wanted)) and there would be a link in the nav box jsut under admin noticeboard (how i usually get there...)PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 16:33, 13 January 2008 (EST)
