Build talk:Team - GvG Ranger Condition Pressure
From PvXwiki
Since ive seen a few more scythe rangers in GvG, it gave me the idea for this. So bash away. Zuko 12:53, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
Was thinking of it, but decided on the Wounding Striker rangers. They can be easily changed. Depends what others think. Ill change it to Escape scythe if they think it should change to it. Zuko 13:20, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
- Definitely change them. Godbox File:GodlyCompanion-cube.jpg 13:30, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
Id run theese tbh, its a condi pressure build and wounding strike gives alot of condis, it will easely overwhelm RC, and you dont need escape here, just use natural stride, its more then enough, and in worst cases u have lightning reflexes if you feel smashed to the death. Fishels[슴Mc슴]Mootles 13:37, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
- Overwhelm RC? It fuels the RC. In my experience Smoke Trappers are not very good in GvG. No choke points in GvG really. This build doesn't do much in Overwhelming the RC as it does fueling it. Any team with Draw would beat this pretty easily. Even if Daze gets applied, it just gets drawn off and RC'd. This build could work but you need some manly Magebane Rangers. This is one of those builds that will only work until you get to a certain rank at which time every team you play will be good enough to beat it. Meaning that this is only for guilds that don't plan on staying at a good rank for a long time. Basically the same issue as Thumper GvG builds.→ You've been pwned.

Well if i replaced the smoke trap, id like another ranger to replace it to keep it with the name. I put smoke trap due to the fact it is the most defensive played out of the majority of ranger builds about. It provides a nice play for monks to sit ayway, and dust trap can keep warriors blinded for more then enough time for the monks, even if it does get drawn of repeatedly. Zuko 16:04, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
Also should i add the escape scythe as variant to thw wounding strike? since i think the wounding strike works better 4 the situation. Zuko 16:05, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
Traps just don't work in gvg because good teams just wand them. In HA thats harder to do because of more walls, but gvg is wide open. Traps are usually bad in gvg unless you play against a team that doesn't know how to beat them. TBH i don't like this build because it promotes the same thing that sway promotes. Basically what i mean is that you really won't get good playing this build but you might rise in the ranks.→ You've been pwned. Extreme( Ftl.)( Noobs.) 16:08, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
Traps do work just on certain guild halls. Isle of the dead works fine with traps, the narrow passages at each base advertise traps. More open guild halls like Imperial i agree yes arent so good, but a trapper still comes in handy, and you can always ask for a block from your monk, aswell as having natural stride and lightning reflexes in the skill bar for blocking aswell. Zuko 16:17, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
This was a random idea i came up with earlier, but if it works, it works, and trappers work for this build. Zuko 16:18, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
- This does work and i have no doubt on that statement, the problem is, is that it's good for a few laughs when you are at high ranks but any good team will roll you. Good teams wand the Trappers and lets face it, you don't have anything except frontliner damage, b-surge or icy snare will destroy you. Nothing really going for it at VoD. It will work until you get to about rank 950, lol.→ You've been pwned.

- I get it you want to make a team with almost all rangers, but this just sucks. Oh boy 4 apply poisons how will we ever survive so much pressure. Seriously you have no kds, a trapper (lame), and no shutdown or midline spike support. If you really wana run rangerway try iono playing rangerspike or byob. Even those 2 teams will have less rangers tho heh.I Heal If U Shutup 18:22, 15 May 2008 (EDT)
Both the cripshot and magebane rangers have debilitating shot, to provide energy denial. But Extreme your right about B-surge and Anti-melee hexes. There no real skills to counter the hexes, but antidote signet could be used i guess, but what do you replace it for is the question. Though, tbh i havent seen many B-surge eles around atm. Zuko 02:54, 16 May 2008 (EDT)
BTW, I Heal if U Shutup, there isnt 4 players with apply poison. only 3 have that, with the magebane using barbed arrows. it is fairly easy for the build to spread 7 degen across a whole team while still providing a good amount of damage. Also, what would you replace the smoke trap with? but still keep it as a ranger? Zuko 02:57, 16 May 2008 (EDT)
ive been talking with my guild, and we have all agreed that the smoke trapper sucks. We came up with replacing it with either the Sihnet Smiter mes, or a B surge Ele, which is the better choice? Zuko 10:20, 16 May 2008 (EDT)
Wtf on the scythe rangers--Relyk 19:58, 17 May 2008 (EDT)
- Those blow shit up. Needs Rend, though. --71.229 20:01, 17 May 2008 (EDT)
What do you suggest to replace for rend? i guess naturall stride could be droppped. Zuko 04:20, 18 May 2008 (EDT)
- The ones I've seen dropped Eremite's. They were all against lower ranks, though, so I'm not too sure if it gives a real boost. Just to be safe, ignore my previous post. --71.229 04:26, 18 May 2008 (EDT)
The Magebane sucks quite. I suggest replacing it with a ranger with Melandru's Arrows. -StarSeeker | My talk 16:25, 26 May 2008 (EDT)
This deffinatly doesnt look to bad , although i would replace the Trapper with something else -- ♥Cute Little Dystrophy♥

[edit] RC
Wouldn't RC just mop all this up? Even if its on 2 targets, 3 conditions every 3 seconds (spam W-Strike with Apply) is a 180 point heal for 5 energy. Since you have no mesmer to shut down the RC, you can't stop it. Also, Magebane can only disable for 10 seconds and it is hard with anti-melee shit. AND: RC is relatively fast in casting so it would be even harder b/c the ranger would have to overextend right next to the monk for the best chance to int. PvXJing 18:36, 18 May 2008 (EDT)
Both the rangers comes up with some energy denial. Also having to spam RC to get rid of coditions is gonna drain the RCs energy bar fairly quickly. Meaning eventually they wont be able to handle the conditions and the pressure from the scythe rangers. Zuko 03:02, 19 May 2008 (EDT)
- Not really too much of a worry to be honest, the energy denial is pretty much a non factor too a good monk. Also its pretty easy to gaurd against any spike that the r/d's can dish out because its a pretty slow spike and the skillt that puts out the dw doesn't do any extra damage. Ward Againt Melee will do pretty good against this. Overall this build is pretty average, its an ok use of rangers but overall will get outdown by a well experienced team.→ You've been pwned.
Extreme( Ftl.)( Noobs.) 20:39, 19 May 2008 (EDT)
- Not true. Guilds still run condi pressure in top 20, with a smoke trapper. It just needs you not to be a retard to run it =\ R/D isnt a spike, its major condi pressure with DW and bleeding every 3 seconds on a different target. And if RC is spamming on charge; lolllllllllllll dshot. —The preceding awesome-sauce comment was added by Rawr. 09:01, 30 May 2008 (EDT)

Maybe you could consider using tainter w/withering aura+foul feast instead of a trapper, drop vital boon on ranger for rend (will have 2 enchants with tainter) then run HB and SoD. Or dual WoH...be brave.--Underwood 04:13, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
- I know, but with 3 copies of dshot you find RC a problem then get new rangers? —The preceding awesome-sauce comment was added by Rawr. 09:04, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
Nice idea ill make the changes. Zuko 08:37, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
Ok ive made the changes, decided to keep vital boon so that mystic sweep is at its maximum. Put enchanment removal on the necro instead. Changed the whole of the backline aswell. Thought a caretakers charge runner fits in nicely aswell. Zuko 09:28, 30 May 2008 (EDT)

Sway for GvG? :3 --Super Igor File:Igor Ninjask.png *ninja!!* 05:51, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
Is Vital Boon really needed, with both Taint and Withering? ɟoʇuɐʌʎʞɔıɹ
09:29, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
It allows Mystic Sweep to hit for +27 max rather then +18 without it. Unless you have another enchantment that could replace it? Zuko 09:43, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
Vital Boon also makes the rangers a bit more durable i guess as they have tht higher health now. Zuko 09:46, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
Btw, the changes i made to the backline and the chnge of the smoke trap ranger to a tainted necro for better or worse? Zuko 09:48, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
[edit] Problems
1 You have no sig hum or anyway to shutdown their RC. (That = Fail with this build) 2 you have no RC = Fail in this meta. 3 Your runner is running Storm Dijins(3spec) instead of Dash... WTF? Basically lose the HB/SoD backline it is definatly inferior, especially in this meta. In fact no RC in this meta is almost a guaranteed loss as every single team is a DW spamming conditionway it seems. As far as damage goes all you really have is degen as those sythe rangers don't have much DPS, and your midline of a tainter and 2 rangers don't have any damage outside of degen ither. If RC is up or even the occasional party heal this team will lose as it can't spike or provide any decent pressure outside of condition spamming. Not trying to be mean, just fix the first 3 things i noticed at the very least as they are easily changable and preventable flaws.I Heal If U Shutup 11:31, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
- Some flaws are easily fixed by replacing the Tainter with a Fast Cast taint (MoI + Sig of Humility) and swapping the SoD for an RC. -StarSeeker | My talk 11:52, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
- I Agree, you don't kill teams with degen. This team doesn't do enough damage. simple as that Loser223 12:40, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
ive made some changes. Zuko 12:52, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
10 health degen on all foes is easily achieved from bleeding poison and disease being spread easily. Well, so does 66*3=198 health from RC every 2 seconds. Not enough energy you say? Overwhelmed by RC spamming? This skill says hai2u.
*Jebus* Is I 19:21, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
- Ok good you got a RC and changed taint to FC taint with a Sig Hum, now the only problem i have is the whole magebane and cripshot ranger thing. I don't like having both and im not really sure what to run instead at this point in time. Oh one more small fix take life on the flagger over recouperation it really is a ton better.I Heal If U Shutup 23:53, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
I Am Jebus, u have signet of humiltiy on the FC tainter, can keep it on the RC monk. So RC isnt a problem. Zuko 05:22, 31 May 2008 (EDT)
- No one uses channeling in GvG--Underwood 05:27, 31 May 2008 (EDT)
About to Magebane: change it to a Melandru's Arrows ranger. -StarSeeker | My talk 05:41, 31 May 2008 (EDT)
Any ideas on what could be swapped for Chilling Victory since its nerf? Zuko 04:16, 11 July 2008 (EDT)
Go Crippling Victory, it will work OK and add an additional condition. Or you can just bring erimite's. KLogic
