Build talk:P/R Critical Spear
From PvXwiki
This build needs to be tweaked a little. It has a bunch of extra adrenaline production but only one adrenaline skill? I guess with go for the eyes it's good for producing energy, but I figured there'd be more adrenaline skills there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Spayced (contribs) .
- The point of the build is to spam-spam-and-more-spam. Except for Refrain, everything is constantly spammed. Personally, I think this works better, even with some downtime on Focused:

12+1+1 spear, 12+2 lead, 3+1 cmd. --8765 04:27, 19 May 2007 (CEST)
- Go with 13 spear. Using a major rune is pointless, the HP helps you more than the 2 points of damage. -Auron 04:37, 19 May 2007 (CEST)
- 35HP will make no difference in PvE. For one thing, mobs that do come to the backlines will ignore you due to 80+ armor. Additionally, gons have lots of +HP gear mods if you're so concerned about HP. --8765 04:44, 19 May 2007 (CEST)
- I'm always concerned about HP, and I always run gons with +HP mods (or the +armor under shouts one) bcos gons have unlimited energy as it is, so you don't need more than 25 of it. If you're not running 600+ HP gon, you're failing :P -Auron 06:17, 19 May 2007 (CEST)
- 600+ HP is pointless. Defense. S Penumbra 06:21, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

Ummm... You all do know that Focused Anger only works up to 100% more Adrenaline right? the stats should be: Leadership 9 + 1 Command 12 + 1 + 3 Spear Mastery 9 + 1 Just thought Id let you all know... Mystefr 9:18, 19 July 2007
- Not true at all. Only stacking is capped at 100%. And single skill can exceed that cap. --8765 20:03, 19 July 2007 (CEST)
- The wiki says there's a bug that caps it at 100%.
How well would this work for simple AB/CM? I'm currently using it (the one above with upgraded runes and subbing in WS though I hardly use it so it might be better if I just find something else.) to a decent amount of success, not counting lag and other issues I have in PvP. The only problem I have is with FA and keeping it up. I'm not too focused on what skills I'm keeping up when a sin is ganking me. AceOfMud 05:01, 28 July 2007 (CEST)

[edit] Equipment
What insignias should you go with? and what type of spear/shield?
- Says in the Equipment section. Please sign with four tildes (~) Sshaun007 16:26, 2 September 2007 (CEST)
[edit] Changing attributes
Changing attributes to 11+2+1 Spear Mastery, 11+1 Leadership, 8+1 Command, 3 Wilderness Survival since it improves Serpent's Quickness by one second :P (See this).--Sirron Eblibs 21:32, 3 August 2007 (CEST)
- It's pointless to have extra points in SQ. The point of that skill is to recharge Focused faster. However, you can live with focused down for 15 sec. Furthermore, command is unnecessarily high, and you'll be spiting out another GftE every 2 seconds. GftE gains a marginal higher crit % per command point. --8765 23:24, 3 August 2007 (CEST)
- its for the extra 16 armor. it would add minimal damage on the spear, and you already have wtfpwnage e-manaement. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Skakid9090 (contribs) . 23:27, 3 August 2007 (CEST)
- You're more likely getting 10 more armor, not a whole 16. Even then, you really don't need it. Anything the breaks into the backlines is going to ignore you anyways. Either way, the build needs the new skills, but that would turn it into that other build. --8765 09:09, 4 August 2007 (CEST)
- He is referring to a Command Shield. Usually, you need a Command or Motivation of 9 to equip most shields. If you do not make the requirement of a shield, either it gets its stats halved or set to its starter attributes (if Collectors / Green). (Remember, the build originated with 8+1 Command, I did not change that)--Sirron Eblibs 09:27, 4 August 2007 (CEST)
- You missed my point. Without meeting the req, you can expect 5 armor from a shield. I'm looking at margins. In other words, for 5 levels of attributes, you gain 10 armor. That's a huge waste. --8765 01:52, 5 August 2007 (CEST)
- You get 8 armor for a shield that you don't fulfill the req for. --Edru viransu//QQ about me 02:10, 5 August 2007 (CEST)
- Well, more support to my point. It's not worth the attributes to get a tiny bit of armor that's going to be useless anyways. --8765 02:15, 5 August 2007 (CEST)
- Useless? Then why do I see top 50 guilds using them on all their monks? Oooh, maybe it's for the +10 AL vs. damage type inscriptions! Shido 02:24, 5 August 2007 (CEST)

[edit] Hero
I seriously doubt that Heroes are smart enough to use Serpents with Focused. Someone tested this? Asdfg 19:24, 22 August 2007 (CEST)
- Manual control them if they don't. Plus, it's their only stance, and exactly the same cd. So if you force use it, they should automatically cycle thru it. --8765 19:54, 22 August 2007 (CEST)
Been testing this build on a hero for a while. They do not use the refrain (echo) at all and can't be forced to use it.
[edit] Still deserves a Great Rating?
With the 4 second recharge on GFtE in place, would this still be worth it's great rating? (Japanties 02:13, 13 October 2007 (CEST))
- Until the votes changes to lower 4.50. VendingMachine 04:29, 13 October 2007 (CEST)
[edit] Possible nerf
The changes in testing this week cause this build to have near-constant Cracked Armor, resulting in:
- A) AL reduced by 20
- B) Always under a condition
Doesn't totally invalidate the build, but it may significantly weaken it.
[edit] for great justice?
istead of keeping focused anger up wouldnt it be easier just to alternate between for great justice and focused anger? --Simpson man 23:32, 19 October 2007 (CEST)

Why? there are so many builds with consistent cracked armor, you're ranged so wtf.86.86.36.63 03:34, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
