I used a variant of this build *Dash, Phoenix & Inferno* and it worked great, i've yet to try this one, but it appears that it'll produce similar results. Although I think that the Inferno/Phoenix chain produces a lot less scatter, if any. --Reject o' EMP 14:32, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- MoR+lava font is quicker. To avoid scatter, you keep your health at around 40ish, by letting SF go down in a save spot and using vamp wep in between mobs. Lord of all tyria 14:34, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- this will kill them all in nm every time, so gj there. but. there have been persistent rumors that enemies killed all at once give fewer drops than if killed one at a time. some people say the myth has been disproven, but some people still think so, and it lines up with my observations. have tests been done on this?--Reason.decrystallized 15:07, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- The thing is, you may get less drops but in theory you can make quicker thus more runs per hour/day, so it should balance out really. /FrosTalk\ 15:08, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- maybe. it isn't ALL that much faster than dags or slivers. i dunno. i mean, the build works great (and yes, i have tried it), but the question just bugs me.--Reason.decrystallized 15:16, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- I'm not sure about that fewer drops statement. I just completed my run, and one of the groups gave me 2 ecto's at the same time (one of the 9 Spectres groups). Btw, I don't expect you to believe the following, but this run gave me: 9 Ecto's, 1.3k cash, 2 golds (of which a Gloom Shield, with crappy mod :s), 3 Phantom Keys and a full inv of crap that got sold for 3k at merchant ^^ —
eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 15:32, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- oh i believe you, i've had runs like that myself. the problem with the rumor is that it's hard to prove/disprove because any given occurrence might just have been luck.--Reason.decrystallized 15:37, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- Well, best thing to do then, is just ignore the rumor, ignore the disprovements, and just try to believe that it's random and indeed luck. ^^ —
eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 15:41, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- [1] Lulwut. Traps can sometimes hit you while under FDJ's haste though, right?
Kamer (Talk|Contributions) 23:57, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- so the drop generator pre-determines drops for every area using the time entered as a seed, and it doesn't matter at all how you kill them ... those screens were pretty convincing. okay, so, w00t for this. and, yeah, FDJ kinda sucks post nerf. I would take either dash or Dark Escape. the extra damage isn't needed, anyway--just cast lava font again.--Reason.decrystallized 00:34, 14 June 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Tip
if you take out FDH for Dash, keep your HP below ~20% (preferrably below 5% to be sure, Not like it matters ;) ) so the mobs won't scatter. --84.24.206.123 04:22, 14 June 2008 (EDT)
- I'm guessing you do that with a vampiric weapon? That sounds great if it works to stop scatter xD. ¬ Klumpeet 08:24{GMT}14-06-MMVIII
- Yes, use a Vamp weapon to keep low. Let SF end for the first damage, if you want. --84.24.206.123 04:27, 14 June 2008 (EDT)
Bring a high health set for those WTF moments like getting hit by a trap on accident. 24.0.66.172 12:03, 15 June 2008 (EDT)
- Forgot to add, a Sup Vigor might not be a bad idea since you'll only loose 2 energy but gain more survivability, espec. if you're new to the run. 24.0.66.172 12:04, 15 June 2008 (EDT)
[edit] With this you can...
Get a Tormented Scythe (and prolly other Tormented weps) in 1 day farming (not even a day prolly, if you're lucky enough). I got mine today :P —
eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 12:39, 14 June 2008 (EDT)
- Yeah, maybe. I'll hafta do some serious DoA farming tommorow for a tormented scythe. Lol.
Assassin Of Fuz 21:55, 14 June 2008 (EDT)
- i think he meant "farm enough ectos to pay for one" not "farm enough gemstones to trade for one". this can't handle DoA by itself--too much AoE. take it with this: Build:Team - SF/Commando with the caster bonder at the bottom, and you could survive, but i don't know about killing. Gloom maybe, city probably not, Veil is definitely not (vamp touch ftl), don't know about foundry.--Reason.decrystallized 23:15, 14 June 2008 (EDT)
- Yeah, I did mean farm enough ecto's. But meh... Actually, yesterday I didn't only get my Tormented Scythe, but also my Destroyer Scythe :P (Well, that wasn't through ecto farming actually. I had a perfect q10 15^50 Eternal Bow from chest, added 20/20 and +30 to it and sold it for 35k) —

[edit] HM?
Can this Farm HM Chaos Plains? Just curious.--70.241.115.160 21:33, 17 June 2008 (EDT)
- Yeah, but theres no point. Its alot slower, and the drops arent that much better (Ecto rate is the same) —The preceding awesome-sauce comment was added by Rawr. 21:53, 17 June 2008 (EDT)
- it's also harder to get there, because the traps and the charged blacknesses do more damage, and the blacknesses follow you further.--Reason.decrystallized 03:49, 18 June 2008 (EDT)
[edit] about loot
ecto drops are the same, it doesn't matter if u kill them all at once or not. only common items are affected which means that ectos aren't. Plohek 04:09, 18 June 2008 (EDT)
[edit] question
how long do u guys need to clear chaos plains? i need about 29min... And is it better to agrro all the horsemen (just when u get to Chaos plains) and kill them at once (well, they run away so i have to group them together again) or to kill one by one? Plohek 06:23, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
- My average runs vary from 20 - 30 mins. Best thing you can do is, keep your health below 100. This makes sure that enemies don't scatter from AoE, no matter how much times you hit them. Second thing is, aggro all Dream Riders that are within reach. Most of the time, only 2 are in possible reach, when heading for a 3rd one, one of the other 2 will break aggro in most cases. —
eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 09:03, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
I always grab 3 of them... when he runs away i chase him and bring him back. do i need a vamp weapon to keep my HP low? or i could aggro them just after i loose my hp from SF... i only got 1 ecto from a run today. scary Plohek 10:53, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
- Yes you need one, to counter regeneration when not battling mobs. Yeh, it happens, getting only 1 ecto. I've had it too, however I also had 2 rubies and 2 golds that run, so.... —
eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 11:08, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
anyone got any ectos from mindblades today cause i didn't... i have a feeling they nerfed them. Plohek 05:28, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- imo just luck.--Reason.decrystallized 05:29, 20 June 2008 (EDT)

[edit] black dye
i seem to get at least one black dye whenever i do this, which was twice, so its not really a good amount to base data on, but has anyone else been getting these? specifically from the graspings at the beginning. Invincible Rogue 11:11, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- Nope, but however, when I tried this in HM, the graspings dropped me like 2 lockpicks, and per run that was like an average. —
eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 12:20, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- I get lots of dyes of all kinds, including a couple whites but no blacks yet 85.98.206.91 03:44, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
- I get a lot of them too, and I did have Black dye once. —

- Yeah. All my friends who run it are telling me that a-net is probably going to let us have fun for a few weeks before nerfing it. I honestly don't give a crap because I only PvP, but the fact that I have friends who keep complaining over Vent is what pisses me off. I want them to stfu. 96.241.214.144 10:51, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
- Well, next week prolly gonna be that nerf (or maybe even this week). Look up that dev update page on GWWiki and you'll see that ANet says that they're reviewing the effectiveness of all the Perma-SF farm builds... This prolly gonna hit the nail. —
eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 16:29, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
- possible. or, rather than updating sf itself, they might update the AI so that this takes 45 minutes rather than 20. that would largely fix the problem from the economy standpoint.--Reason.decrystallized 16:56, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Fastkill vs Monetary drop rates
While this build has pretty much debunked the myth that fast-killing puts a dent in ecto drop rates, after using the SF-Dagger sin to farm out about half of my ectos for my armor, it seems that while fast-killing doesn't reduce cto drops rates, it does affect money drops rates. Back when I was using daggers, I could usually count on around 4-6k from vendor trash and money drops. However, after using this build for quite a few runs, I'm averaging about 2k -- sometimes I'm only slightly over break-even with the UW fee. Occasionally I hit 4k, but it does seem to me that faster killing = less money. Of course, the real net gain is still very high, since each run produces at least 3 ectos, and using this build is quite a bit faster and less boring than the dagger build.
Also, figured out that despite the build looking rather delicate from an energy perspective, it can handle a lot more E-abuse than most farming builds. I'd put a small friendly note on the page to just reassure energy-conscious newbies to this build [like me, heh] that they can pretty much spam the hell out of Lava Font and be fine energy-wise, as long as they have 4 pips of E-regen. What do you guys think? 67.234.7.172 16:16, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Variants/Notes
"Dropping Fire from 12 points to 11 allows you to increase Air, to extend Glyph of Swiftness to be effective on the next 2 skills - plus put a couple of points into Deadly Arts, which in turn extends Deadly Paradox, giving you an extra 1 or 2 seconds to cast Shadow Form. "
Is completely unnessacary and should be removed from the article. If you can't do it as the build currently is then you should perhaps hang up your mouse and keyboard and retire from gaming forever it's that fucking easy. Also added a note about using vampiric weapons to reduce scatter. Please edit for accuracy if nessacary. Selket Shadowdancer 13:36, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Question
Actually, I have 2. I haven't quite leveled my perma-sin yet so I haven't had a chance to test whether this build can kill aatxes or not. So can it? Second can this build farm other places besides the chaos planes? If so would someone list them on the article? Wtbursanswtsizzy 12:15, 24 June 2008 (EDT)
- The build can kill aatxes relatively quickly, and there's a couple of areas near the plains you can farm. Don't know the names. Lord of all tyria 12:16, 24 June 2008 (EDT)
- It kills aatxes pretty fast yes, but you need to drop your health below 100 for anti-scatter, otherwise it WILL take too long —
eXtinctioN (Talk/Contributions) 12:26, 24 June 2008 (EDT)
- Aatxes don't have the best drop rates, but you can kill them. This should probably get a name change, because this can farm a lot more than the Chaos Fields. I was broke, so I took this to Hard Mode in Jaga Moraine to farm the Spectral Vaettir, which was a decent run (once you make it to the Vaettir). -Mike 15:43, 24 June 2008 (EDT)
- is there anything that can't?--Reason.decrystallized 18:05, 24 June 2008 (EDT)

To answer you question... yes. This build can't kill smites before they kill you and charged blackenesses before they zap you. Avoid them and you are home free, but the bottom line is this: Chaos Planes is the fastest ecto drop area and at 20 mins a run, you are wasting your time farming other areas. Just farm Chaos Planes and you'll be richer sooner.
- Unless ecto prizes drop like shit... —

what lvl do i need to be to go out to farm?2which world like factions can i farm on? where can i farm at at this place?--Mageuluk34 15:31, 12 August 2008 (EDT)
- This is for the Chaos Planes in the Underworld, which you can reach through the Temple of Ages (Prophecies), Zin Ku Corridor (Factions) or the Chantry of Secrets (Nightfall). You'll want to be level 20 to farm, as with any build, tbh. ــмıкεнaшк 15:34, 12 August 2008 (EDT)

- Actually it does still work, I used it yesterday for lolz and got 4 ectos. Hex Breaker is a pain but not enough to kill you if you're careful. :) Selket Shadowdancer 18:59, 12 August 2008 (EDT)
- That's why the updated version with Burning Speed should be used instead, tbh. ــмıкεнaшк 20:19, 12 August 2008 (EDT)
- Well you can't wand and keep the burning up with that version (no MoR) if they run away (which is a regular occurence now). This does still work is the point I'm trying to get at, you just need to apply a bit more common sense. Selket Shadowdancer 20:23, 12 August 2008 (EDT)
- They don't maintain Hexbreaker on themselves? If so, I don't see how you could even apply Mark of Rodgort. =/ ــмıкεнaшк 21:01, 12 August 2008 (EDT)
- do they still not run if you're almost dead?--reason.decrystallized In real life, pokemons would be used as sex toys. 22:18, 12 August 2008 (EDT)
- I'll awnser both queries with one stone here. Because Hex Breaker isn't enough to kill you, and it actually serves to lower your health enough to make sure they dont run away from you as much. The only thing is you have to make sure you fully replenish your health between mobs of Spectres and tackle one mob at a time rather than 2-3. I'm not saying it's better by the way, just that it does indeed still work and is most definitely usable outside of UW also. Selket Shadowdancer 06:33, 13 August 2008 (EDT)
