This Build has potential no doubt. Actually I just suggested something like this a few days ago :p. To me this would look cleaner though:

Obsidian Flesh Stoneflesh Aura Armor of Earth Mystic Regeneration Sliver Armor Grasping Earth Glyph of Concentration Glyph of Lesser Energy

  • Energy Management
  • Better Snare
  • Can farm more enemies (Better survivability due to Obsid Flesh)

Readem (talk*pvxcontribs) 20:06, 31 May 2007 (CEST)

This is for usage in doa, you get balth from the bonder, et cetera et cetera. I've done extensive testing and the original build I had is most likely the best for a quad run, with variants for single runs. - Skakid9090 04:05, 4 June 2007 (CEST)

WTF! My comment above was not for this build lolz.... Readem (talk*pvxcontribs) 18:03, 19 June 2007 (EDT)

How about the following as an alternative for this build ?

Glyph of Concentration Obsidian Flesh Conviction Kinetic Armor Armor of Sanctity Mystic Regeneration Veil of Thorns Fleeting Stability

Conviction + Fleeting Stability for pulling mobs, Kinectic Armor when tanking and Armor of Sanctity + Veil of Thorns for a permanent cripple of attacking mobs and extra damage reduction. - Emunator 23:34, 24 June 2007 (GMT+1)

Need Stone Flesh, or it won't work. Armor no loner stacks btw. Readem (talk*pvxcontribs) 10:05, 24 June 2007 (EDT)

You defenitly dont need stoneflesh, please try out the build before you make up your opinion. Conviction has lower casting time and lower recharge time, so even when an interupt occurs it's faster to put it up again. And yes i know it isnt stacking. armor buff cap[]

i think someone needs to test viability with the new armor buff cap. (68.146.255.42 16:39, 19 June 2007 (EDT))

Still works. Readem (talk*pvxcontribs) 18:03, 19 June 2007 (EDT)

I'd be curious to know how the recent decreased duration on Stoneflesh Aura affects it, as well ... Reason.decrystallized 10:47, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

It'll last long enough for the recast. --NYC Elite 12:44, 23 June 2007 (EDT)

You have a second downtime, so you take 2...10 dmg per hit in that timeframe, which mystic and monks easily counter. - Skakid9090 13:11, 23 June 2007 (EDT)

My point exactly. --NYC Elite 13:20, 24 June 2007 (EDT)
do armor of sanctity of stoneflesh aura stack? and if so would it actually be useful?--Reason.decrystallized 02:52, 16 July 2007 (CEST)

Great Build[]

Great build, seriously love it. Been using it in DoA for quite a while now and it works like a charm, 9/10 Virtual Q 12:20, 28 July 2007 (CEST)

Armor is not stacking. There are better dervish tanks, even the 130hp dervish can do this job better Gelei 10:05, 30 July 2007 (CEST)

Not true. Nowadays, the +20 al from obsidian flesh isn't worth anything, but this build is mostly used in Domain of Anguish, where targeted enchantment removal flies all over the place. Armor of Earth, Stoneflesh Aura, and Mirage Cloak give you the defense you need, especially when combined with the monk DoA teams stick onto this character (I believe; been a while since I looked at the DoA build), Mystic Regen gives you healing, Fleeting Stability basically eliminates interrupts from DoA, and Obsidian Flesh makes sure you're not targeted by enchantment removal or nukes. Different places, different builds. -- Armond WarbladeArmond sig image{{sysop}} 16:53, 31 July 2007 (CEST)
...who is talking about the fact that you need armor stacking... the elite is there so you cant be the target of enemy spells... and in DoA if they are looking for an Obsidian Tank, an Obsidian Dervish works aswell... Virtual Q 16:50, 31 July 2007 (CEST)

Maybe some damage?[]

I know pretty much all obsidian builds are for high lvl area tanking and just taking damage, not dealing, but why not add some damage? my idea was to maybe lower earth prayers to 10+1+1, and add wind prayers to 8+1. You can then add Mystic Twister to deal easy damage with all of your enchantments. You'll still have high health regeneration (+3 per enchantment) and as well to add to the nuking in areas like DoA. I would mainly suggest replacing Ward Against foes with it, or in your Variants, put it in instead of Mirage Cloak or Fleeting Stability for example. Just a suggestion. --Guild of Deals 16:39, 23 September 2007 (CEST)

Good idea, but as I understand it, Ward Against Foes is there to stop the AI from charging in on the eles and such. Mirage Cloak does a decent amount of damage, and I would suggest it as the skill to swap out if it weren't for the interrupt prevention. On the other hand, if you're experienced enough with the build that you can afford to use the lower earth and lose one of your skills, then by all means it sounds like a good variant. -- Armond WarbladeArmond sig image{{sysop}} 17:17, 23 September 2007 (CEST)

Energy problem[]

I almoust always run out of energy with this. What i'm doing wrong?

you need a monk to essense or balth bond you (1 energy per hit taken, 2 with both bonds). Pwnted 08:14, 1 November 2007 (CET)

Oh right, forgot that.

Max Armour?[]

Does the amour have to be max? ™Cookie™

It's a tank. It depends on to a very large extent on having a maintained amount of high armor. You could probably play it without max armor, but in harder places you're going to get owned. Healing Burst †Godliest† -- My Sandbox 16:41, 12 November 2007 (CET)
       Okay cheers ™Cookie™

Well I tried to edit the build[]

<pvxbig> [build name="d/e obsidian dervish (cookie)" prof=dervi/eleme earthm=12 earthp=12+1+1 mystic=3][stoneflesh aura][obsidian flesh][armor of earth][glyph of concentration][mirage cloak][mystic regeneration][fleeting stability][elemental lord][/build] </pvxbig>

and i came up with this i mean its xactly the same par the last skill as i figured if you have the Totem Axe its 20% longer enchantments and if the Elemental Lord boost your ele attributes by a certian number the stonflesh aura can be on conctant

lemme no what ya think

cheers ™Cookie™

Given that it works without ELord, I'd rather have WaF to stop agro from catching my teammates. -- Armond WarbladeArmond sig image{{sysop}} 21:21, 13 November 2007 (CET)

Well was worth a try :P lol --Cookie™ 07:49, 2 March 2008 (EST)

Video[]

Can someone post a video of this? I have all skills, but dont know how 2 use...--Evil Deth Bunny 22:15, 8 December 2007 (CET)

Not Atm Sorry I Havent Got Time =( --Cookie™ 07:56, 2 March 2008 (EST)

Glyph Of Swiftness[]

Would Glyph Of Swiftness be a effective varient? With 12 Attributes in Earth Magic and a 20% enchanting weapon there is only a 1second down time Turns To Despair Xx 18:33, 14 January 2008 (EST)

Myst Reg and the tag[]

It didn't really touch it. still 12 regen, wich is very nive. --84.24.206.123 14:34, 11 February 2008 (EST)

Yes, agree.. 12regen is nice :) Still theres a monk healing u + u got all the armor booost, etc.. thinks it works pretty well anyway Massive Spotless Soul 02:39, 12 February 2008 (EST)

I agree. The nerf didn't really touch this. Greevar 00:28, 28 February 2008 (EST)

The build is funky, it just makes me laugh wen ppl use it in AB, and as i play on my necro i just use Rend enchantmnts and stripe them all off the player =) --Cookie™
Ur using rend enchants on someone with obsidian flesh? You must have maed haxx şąɀɀƴƿooɧPinkNautical 12:50, 22 August 2008 (EDT)

dead[]

infinite OBS and SF now.--Rebirth Infidel aesthetic

I'd hardly say it's dead. Perma SF is nice, and Perma OF isn't bad either, but both of those have big issues with PBAoE and non-targeted skills when taking into account the low armor. Cedave bad ツ cedave (contributionsbuildpage) 13:15, 22 August 2008 (EDT)

Archive[]

Proposing an archive, with the advent of consumables and perma-SF, obsidian tanks have pretty much died off.--GoldenGoldenstarStar 23:20, 25 November 2008 (EST)

Bonder[]

Is a bonder required for this build? Due to the fact it has energy management WITHOUT balthazar's spirit, I think it's not required, but I'd like to know your opinions.

Move[]

i think we should move this build to a different section its not exactly a general use build its more of a farming build that requires more people.

Gogo Archive[]

On a side note, I really need to look up the archive template. LifeWikiLOD7 01:09, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

with the nerf to shadow form, would this build be any good still? i know that the obby warrior is dead since he would never have any energy but would a dervish work?02:27, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Nope. Life Guardian 02:33, February 27, 2010 (UTC)
